Educator

My name is Holly Flores, and since returning from maternity, have joined the senior infant classroom, prior to that, I was an educator in the Toddler 2 room.
I have been working with children for as long as I can remember in various settings, including camp counsellor, youth staff aboard a cruise ship, and as an ECE in various centres, before finding my place and settling down at Spring Roots!
I enjoy sensory play, learning through literacy and watching children gain independence through every day tasks! My home is very musical, and I enjoy bringing it into the classroom as much as possible as well! I can’t sing very well, but singing silly songs during group time is one of my favourite parts of the day!
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and listening to live music!

Educator

My name is Erica Reynolds and I am one of three teachers in the Infant section at SpringRoots.  I have been at SpringRoots for almost four years – I spent my first two years team teaching in the Toddler 2 room before moving to the Infant section after returning from maternity leave in December, 2017.  While I loved the toddler section, there is something very special abut working with infants and the relationships you build with them and their families as they embark on the new adventure that is “daycare”.    I have a Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary education from St. Thomas University and have completed the program of professional learning for the NBELCCC Framework.  When away from the center, I enjoy spending time with the my family, going for walks and taking my daughter to the park.

Exploring my Senses

Learning to Trust

The focus of care with an infant will be to provide an inclusive program that respects each child’s abilities, needs and strengths. In order for an infant to feel safe their needs will be met immediately by warm caring adults, this will continue to foster the sense of trust in the infant. The program will offer experiences in a natural setting that appeal to the infant’s senses and contribute to their overall growth and development. The infant program will also focus on a language rich communication that will encourage positive interactions. Their days will be filled with exploring through touch, taste, smell and hearing abilities, through picture labelling, stories, music, puppets, playing with manipulative hand held toys, walks outside, and lots of love.

The Educator/Child ratio will be maintained throughout the day:

  • Room One 1:3 6-15 months old you are required to provide snacks and drinks for morning and afternoon.  You are required to bring baby food and milk/formula if using bottles. We allow for Breast feeding moms to come in when they need to feed and be with their child.
  • Room Two 2:6 15-24 months old.  Play includes dramatic play, blocks, music/instruments, stories/nursery rhymes, outside play, beginning craft time, etc.  The focus in this class is having fun while exploring new things in an all natural loving, respectful environment.
